2018 ADO National Championships – UPDATE

By
Updated: March 12, 2018

Following the overwhelmingly positive response to the new policies introduced for the 2018 ADO National Championships in Las Vegas, we are delighted to announce that we have extended the invitations to ALL National Finals. Please read on for full details.

Firstly, the ONLY way to receive travel cost and an expense stipend is to qualify for a National finals via the ADO Playoff system. In addition, competing in National Qualifiers is the ONLY way to earn ADO ranking points. So, this will still be the preferred way of qualification for the vast majority of players.

However, using this process alone can – for a variety of reasons – impose unnecessary limitations on players whose presence would grace any tournament. We would like to give more players the opportunity to compete in National Championships, and of course, international events, as a reward for their efforts. Therefore the following will apply with immediate effect:

World Masters National Finals
For those players who finished in the Top 32 (men and women) of the previous year’s ADO National Rankings, and who have not qualified for the the World Masters Nationals via the playoff system, will receive an invitation to compete in the World Masters National Finals, at a cost of $150. All monies received will go toward funding the ADO qualifiers for the World Masters.

US Team National Finals
For those players who finished in the Top 32 (men and women) of the previous year’s ADO National Rankings, and who have not qualified for the the US Team Nationals via the playoff system, will receive an invitation to compete in the US Team National Finals, at a cost of $150. All monies received will go toward funding the ADO qualifiers for the Americas Cup/World Cup.

501/Cricket National Championships
Eligibility for these events will be expanded from last year. Those players who finished in the Top 64 (men and women) of the previous year’s ADO National Rankings, and who have not qualified for either the 501 or Cricket National Championship via the playoff system, will receive an invitation to compete in the 501/National Championships at a cost of $150 per event. Full details for these National Championships will be published at a later date.

In addition to these invitations based on the previous year’s final rankings, invitations based on CURRENT rankings will be used for the Masters and US Team Nationals. Players ranked in the Top 32 (men and women) of the ADO National Rankings at the cutoff date will also receive invitations to these two National Finals. The cutoff date will be 28 days prior to the National Finals. Therefore the cutoff for this means of qualification for the 2018 Masters National Finals is Friday, March 16, and the cutoff for the 2018 US Team National Finals is Friday, October 5.

Apologies for the delay in releasing the information, but we needed to finalize some of the details. We will contact all players who are eligible for National Championships based on the above criteria.
