2019 WDF World Cup – February Update
As many of you will have seen, the 2019 WDF World Cup was scheduled to be held in Bucharest, Romania, from October 7-12 (following on from the Winmau World Masters in England). However, the World Masters has been put back to the weekend of October 25-27, and the World Cup is now being held in Cluj-Napoca, some 450 miles NNW of Bucharest.
Further details will be posted when we receive them, but if you aren’t aware, Cluj-Napoca is the fourth largest city in Romania, and is the capital of the historic region of Transylvania! Just over 100 miles away is the legendary Corvin Castle, once home to Vlad the Impaler…
The US Team for the World Cup (four men and four women) comprises the winners from the 2018 US Team National Finals, and the leading points-winners from the 2018 ADO World Cup points race. Unfortunately, from the team originally announced, Paula Murphy has had to withdraw, and Marlise Kiel was the alternate.
As it stands, the team will be :
Robin Curry, Cali West, Stacey Pace, and Marlise Kiel.
Kevin Luke, Jerry Van Loan, Jim Widmayer, and Joe Chaney.
Curry, West, Luke, and Van Loan qualified from the National Final.
Here are the final standings from the points race, and as you can see, it was very close!
