With Darin Young having exited the event on Tuesday, American eyes were now focused on Danny Baggish. The man from Florida was up against world # 12, Nathan Aspinall.

Baggish was throwing first, and made the most of it as he won the first leg in 18 darts.  It could have been 2-0. but a last dart miss at D18 allowed his opponent to level in 15.  Undeterred, Danny held serve to regain the lead, and then, aided by his second 180 of the match, broke Aspinall to clinch the first set.

The lead was short-lived, as the Englishman needed just 39 darts – and legs of 13, 12, and 14 – to take the second.  After a slow start in the third, the North American Champion was able to take the set to a fifth-leg decider. He did have a shot at 104, but unable to find a triple until his third dart, Aspinall stepped in and took full advantage.

The first four legs of the fourth all went to the player throwing first.  This meant that Baggish had to break throw to stay in the match.  A 180 first on Aspinall’s first visit made it that much harder, and indeed, it only took 14 darts to end American interest here for another year.
