Cazoo World Cup of Darts – Day 3
After a titanic battle against Australia, Danny Lauby Jr. and Chuck Puleo slipped out of the Cazoo World Cup of Darts in Germany.
With the format changing to singles, Lauby was up against Simon Whitlock. Whitlock soon opened up a 3-0 lead (in the Best-of-Seven contest), and even missed a dart for a perfect game! Still, legs of 11 and 13 helped his cause. The man from Terre Haute, Indiana, was not ready to give in, and posted a 14-darter and a superb 170 out on his way to tieing the score. Unfortunately, it was Whitlock who pocketed the win.
Puleo grabbed the first leg in his clash with Damon Heta, but the Aussie bounced back to forge a 3-1 lead. The man from Arizona closed the gap to 3-2, but Heta held on to win 4-2.
Big shock of the day was the impressive Austrian victory against the highly-fancied Belgian team, but there were no such problems for their Dutch neighbors who beat Paul Lim’s Singapore. There were also wins for England and Wales.
The tournament ends tomorrow, and full details can be found at www.pdc.tv.
