Disappointment For Lauby

A gritty performance from Danny Lauby wasn’t enough to prevent an early exit from the William Hill World Championship.
Some missed doubles proved costly as Lauby slipped to an early two-leg deficit against William O’Connor, but the American showed his class as he captured the third set, which included checkouts of 116 and 117.
O’Connor missed match darts in the third leg of the third, only to see the man from Terre Haute roar back in scintillating fashion, and take the next three legs – and the set.
The fifth set went to a tie-breaker, and Lauby wired his attempt at 121 to clinch his place in round two. O’Connor took out tops for the match. Danny’s final average of 93.46 was one of the best of the evening, but will prove little consolation.
