2023 Mr. Vegas Grand Slam of Darts

The next stop on the PDC tour is Wolverhampton, in the heart of England’s ‘Black Country’. One of the birthplaces of the Industrial Revolution, the area is so named because of the soot and air pollution generated by the local factories and coalworks, but that’s another story…

Today, Wolverhampton is the home of WV Active Aldersley, venue for the 2023 Mr. Vegas Grand Slam of Darts. The event kicks off on Saturday afternoon, November 11.

The winner will receive £150,000 (approx $184, 215), and the 32-player field comprises players from eleven different nations. One of those nations is the USA, and this time, we will see a brand new face on the PDC stage. The man from Portsmouth, VA, Stowe Buntz, will be flying the American flag. Many of you will have seen Stowe burst onto the scene in dramatic fashion this year, but to be honest, he’s put in many years of work to get where he is now.

There will be eight round-robin groups, and Buntz opens his account on Saturday evening, taking on twice World Champ, Peter Wright. Group match schedules are based on wins and losses, so we don’t know yet, when his second match will be, or the opponent. What we do know is that his other two opponents will be Stephen Bunting and Dave Chisnall. The top two from each group will advance to the knockout rounds.

Elsewhere, there are some mouthwatering first-day tussles with Nathan Aspinall facing Beau Greaves, Michael Van Gerwen against Fallon Sherrock, and a clash between two of the fast-emerging stars of the sport, Chris Dobey and Josh Rock.

As always, updates and results will be posted here.
