Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the start of the WDF World Championship at the legendary Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey. There are Championships for the men (48 players), women (24), boys (4), and girls (2).

The event kicks off at 1.00pm (local time) with a clash between England’s Scott Marsh and Sebastian Bialecki (Poland). However, the main items of interest for fans this side of the Atlantic is the appearance of two Americans! Fifth game of the afternoon session brings Paula Murphy’s return to the Lakeside stage after her debut last year. Florida’s finest takes on Spain’s Almudena Fajardo. Third game of the evening session (starting at 7.00pm local) sees a welcome return to the big stage of ADO President, Jim Widmayer. Jim faces Hungarian Patrik Kovacs for a place in Round Two.

The following day (Sunday), and Texan Leonard Gates is in action. ‘Soulger’ is up against Bran Corbett, one of three New Zealanders maing an appearance in the evening session. We then have the long wait until Wednesday evening when Danny Lauby completes the US quartet. The man from Terre Haute, IN, will have to wait for the winner of the Jamie Lewis/Jarno Bottenberg tussle which takes place on Sunday. As #6 Seed, Lauby gets a bye straight into the Second Round.

All First Round matches are Best of Three sets, while the Second Round moves up to Best of Five.

Every match will be streamed live and worldwide on the World Darts Federation’s dedicated TV channel, channel 180, on Ayozat.com. You can access this channel on both their website and also via the Ayozat App, which can be downloaded from the App, Google Play and Amazon Fire Stores. This coverage is in addition to our previous announcement from September that every dart of this year’s championships will be aired for free on the WDF YouTube channel as well as on the Winmau and Tungsten Tales YouTube channels.
