BetVictor World Cup of Darts – Day One
It wasn’t the greatest start to the BetVictor World Cup of Darts, as the American pair slipped to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Portugal. Danny Lauby and Jules van Dongen struggled to find any rhythm, and went down by a score of 4-2.
The opening leg was a scrappy affair, but the leg was won by Lauby and van Dongen – against the throw. Their joy was short-lived though, as the Portuguese duo immediately broke back to level the score. The next two legs went with the darts, so 1-1 became 2-2. Sadly, Portugal won the next two legs to clinch victory. The sixth leg was particularly painful as we missed a shot at 60 to force a tie-break.
We’re not out of it yet, but we now need to beat Italy tomorrow to maintain interest until the group decider.
Elsewhere, there were no real shocks, although Australia survived a scare against Japan!
