BetVictor World Cup of Darts – Day Two

Team USA’s quest for victory at the BetVictor World Cup of Darts ground to a halt at the hands of Italy today. While Danny Lauby and Jules van Dongen did improve on yesterday’s performance, they were only able to manage a second 4-2 defeat.

Yet again, the Americans broke throw immediately to take an early lead, and again their opponents struck back to level the score (with a swift 13-darter). Like yesterday, the next two legs were shared, each going with the darts. Unlike yesterday, though, Danny and Jules weren’t able to get another shot at an out, and their tournament was done.

In the group decider, the Italians surprisingly saw off the Portuguese pair to reach the Top 16. Shock of the day came from Chinese Taipei, who edged out a highly-fancied Irish team to advance.

The knockout rounds start tomorrow, and feature eight first-round clashes. Updates and live scores are available from the PDC website here.
