2024/25 Paddy Power World Championship Preview

This Sunday (December 15) brings the start of the PDC’s 2024/25 Paddy Power World Championship. Once again, 96 players – led by World #1 and reigning Champ, Luke Humphries – will descend upon the historic Alexandra Palace in North London.

A year ago, Humphries defied the efforts of the unseeded 16-year-old, Luke Littler, in an enthralling final. This time, on the back of such fabulous wins as the Premier League and Grand Slam, Littler returns as one of the favorites.

Hoping to prevent another English win are two Americans; Stowe Buntz, and Leonard Gates. Both have been here before. In 2023, Gates lost to Dutchman Geert Nentjes first time out, while Buntz suffered a similar fate last year, at the hands of Nentjes’ compatriot, Kevin Doets. Of course, they are both hoping for better this time, and they have the advantage of previous experience here.

Texan Gates is the first in action, hitting the stage on Monday evening against Scot, Cameron Menzies, while the man from Virginia doesn’t throw a dart until Thursday night. Then, he takes on Welshman Nick Kenny.
