Tomorrow (Friday) sees the start of the 2019 BDO World Trophy, one of the BDO’s premier events.  Held in Blackburn, England, the World Trophy has events for both Men (32 players) and Women (16 players).

Qualification for the tournament is similar to the BDO World Championship, with participants earning their places via the BDO rankings and international tables, and a small number of qualifiers via playoffs (being played as we speak).  Current US #1, Joe Chaney is making his second appearance at the event, having competed two years ago, but handicapped by some serious travel issues, the man from Chattanooga wasn’t able to produce his best form.  Hopefully, it will be a little easier this time, as Joe should be relaxing in the hotel right now!

The first session kicks off at 12.00pm local time (7.00am Eastern / 4.00am Pacific), and “Chanesaw” is last on against seventh seed, England’s Gary Robson.  Should Joe get through his opener, he will take on the winner of Willem Mandigers and Carl Hamilton.

No American qualified for the Women’s event.

The BDO will be providing live coverage on their YouTube channel, and updates will be available from the BDO website here.
